Siemens G220: Drive Control Chart Comes to General-Purpose Drives

The G220 brings DCC down into a general-purpose VSD, letting you configure drive logic graphically on the converter itself with no external controller needed.
Insight Overview
The Siemens G120 had Free Function Blocks, and for what they were, they did the job - basic logic, timers, interlocks, all configured through parameter numbers and BICO interconnections. Functional, but not exactly intuitive.
With the G220, Siemens has brought DCC (Drive Control Chart) down from the S-series drives into a general-purpose VSD for the first time.
DCC is a full graphical CFC editor running inside the drive. Drag-and-drop control, arithmetic, logic, PID - all visually configured and executed on the converter itself. 20 blocks are included out of the box, expandable to 500, with sampling times down to 250us.
If you've worked with DCC on an S120, you already know how powerful this is. If you haven't, it's like programming drive logic the way you'd program a PLC - except DCC runs directly on the drive, with no external controller needed.
I've been configuring it on my G220 rig, and it's a serious step forward. This is the kind of capability that changes where you put the intelligence in a system.
